Well, I'm here. It's actually really pretty here, and the history of this place is just crazy. They have a king here now, and, well, us. But mostly things here aren't too different. The base here is nicely set up. And best of all, my buddy Jim is here, and he's already introduced me around. It was nice to find people here are so friendly. Of course, I have my whole unit here with me too, so pretty much I'm in good hands. Oh, and I helped settle a bet--one of the Sarge's here won't tell anyone what his background is, so I did a person search on him and found out. He took it well and was impressed with my skills. I'm definitely doing the MP program. Oh, and my friend back home sent me this list on things to do while waiting for the doctor. Doesn't really apply to when we go see the docs here, but I thought the rest of you all would get a kick out of it. Anyway, just wanted everyone to know I was here, and safe, and so far, so good.

So, I got back to complete my latest training program here in Chicago and the word came down--we'll be shipping out soon. We're being called "sand sailors" and are heading to this little island in the Persian Gulf called Bahrain. We'll be base-bound, mostly, but we already have guys there. In fact, due to my people search skills, I found that one of my buddies from basic is already there. I got in contact with him and said I was headed that way, and he said he's already planning where to take me out. Meanwhile, all my newfound skills being a people search private eye has gotten me attention. I've really been liking all this investigating and was telling one of the sergeants about it and he said I should go for the MP program. I'm starting to think about what I want to do once I get out of the Navy, and I think I want to go into law enforcement. I've even been thinking about the FBI. Meanwhile, my mom is a little freaked out about my deployment, even though it's a pretty safe spot. She's already making plans for my first trip back home and sent me this article on how to plan a family reunion. She wants me to help her find everyone for it, when I get a chance. IF I get a chance. Man, in preparation for going out, we're working double time out here. I'm kind of excited, but nervous too. We'll still have internet and all that over there though, so I'll still be able to keep up with my people searching and all that. But still...wish me luck everyone!
